Conway dropped God Don’t Make Mistakes on 2/25/2022

About freaking time! I been waiting on this album since 2020 and I waited long enough. Those long nights of me waiting on the album with me wasting hours of my free time on social media taught me to be patient. That is time I could not get back. I even had dinner with my mom waiting on this album and I felt bad because although she was conversating with me, I could not focus without thinking of God Don’t Make Mistakes.

Eminem did not make a mistake by hiring 3 Buffalo Boys to hold the crown down. In my opinion, Conway is the closest thing we will get to a Notorious BIG in this generation with his slick flow and efficient rhymestyle. I do not care if I get murdered for saying this but Conway is just like Biggie but more lyrical. If you do not believe me, listen to GOAT from 2017.

Eminem signs Conway & Westside Gunn in 2016

Although they are two different artist, Conway’s voice is full of pain and you can feel it through his music. Even if he did not get shot in the face, he would still make pain of the rhymes he made. Those long nights of me waiting for this album and when it was released at midnight, I jumped up and down like a kid on X-Mas eve.

The Machine

I been waiting since last year to do this but today, we will dig track by track and tell the reason why this album is a monument. Griselda is one of my favorite groups when it comes to originality and artist like Conway could end up in superstardom after this. He has been collaborating with A List rappers. On the meantime, here we go!

Conway The Machine
  1. Lock & Load Feat. Beanie Sigel- Can you imagine wearing a Carhart Jacket hustling dope to this music. I can and If I were to starve to the point I have to rely on that lifestyle, this song would be on repeat. This song reminds me of how the 90’s sounded when it comes to music, art, and culture. Beanie Sigel made it known that Conway got his blessing. This song should be banged on repeat no matter what. Conway’s Biggie comparison comes from lines like “Drumming like I am part of a band”, (Conway, 2022). Conway is the illest ever and Beanie was one of those rappers growing up you do not want to beef with. I do not know what happened between him and Jada but that was a battle of the two monsters.
  2. Tear Gas Feat. Rick Ross & Lil Wayne- This collaboration is something the world been waiting on. Hearing a rough draft on IG live got me waiting on this album. This soul sample is meant for Ross & Wayne as they target there old ways back in 2006. Sorry fans, Conway kills them both.
  3. Piano Love- Uncle Al is the man. Piano Love reminds me of Old Wu-Tang and their chemistry to compete with rappers in the industry. The Alchemist and Conway did a great job with LuLu, a collaboration tape from 2020. After this track, can we get another one?
  4. Drumwork Feat. 7eventhegenius & Jae Skeeze- “I was the most overlooked”, (Conway, 2022). Conway was not lying when he said it and mentions that Drumwork is the new team. He left Griselda on good terms and with collaborations with his own artist made sense.
  5. Wild Chapters Feat. Novel & T.I- Conway kept it funky with T.I’s swag dripping on the track. This reminds me of Urban Legend T.I before he went commercial and did King. Novel is an artist I had to look up but he did his thing.
  6. Guilty- A testimony for those living the street life. Conway does it best
  7. John Woo Flick Feat. Benny The Butcher & Westside Gunn- Can we get another Griselda album please?
  8. Stressed Feat. Wallo 267- Dope radio single where he talks the struggles and dangers of a gangster.
  9. So Much More- Justice League made Conway preach on this song. I am pretty sure this beat was passed or overlooked but it fit Conway like a fitted hat.
  10. Chanel Pearls Feat. Jill Scott- This song fits perfect for Jill Scott and her soulstress voice. Conway, if you read this; we need more collaborations like this, please?
  11. Babas Feat. Keisha Plum- Story telling at it’s finest. Relating dirty cops, under paid teachers, and job applications. Conway touches on every subject just in 24 bars.
  12. God Don’t Make Mistakes Feat. Annette Price- GDMM is a testimonial about what would happen if Conway did not make it. He sure is counting his blessings believing in himself and his city. His mother drops a prayer at the end. This outro should of been the intro in the beginning. The way it started and how it ended.

Overall

Conway The new King of New York

Conway dropped a classic and may have album of the year. This is a hard album to choose because the year is not over. Conway got the illest bars and with his Shady Records debut, he made a name for himself. It does suck that Shady does not see what the world see’s in these guys. Conway fullfilling his contract is something that is right but I would not mind saying that this is an instant classic.

Conway The Machine is a top tier MC who can control his crowd and he may be the King Of New York. Not 6ix 9ine, not Pop Smoke, Not Lil T’Jay. Conway is the new Frank White.
