Dej Loaf Drops Sell Sole II 6/25/2020

Dej Loaf took time to make a staple for her name for years. When she came on the scene with “Try Me”, a singalong gangster anthem, she had the world by storm. The single that caught my attention was “Me, Hennessy, & You (Remix)” feat Lil Wayne. Her divine voice rode the beat to the point it joined my playlist I created for when I want to chill. Since then she made history but with Sell Sole II, this is what keeps her legacy jumping. Also appearing on Detroit V.S Everybody with Eminem, Royce DA 5'9, Big Sean, & Danny Brown, She proves she is one of the guys with her soulstress voice along with her killing the Remix feat Trick Trick and various Detroit artist, Dej proves she can hold her own.

Sell Sole II is an autobiographical album and to be honest, it is a classic. Telling her story about how “I went from skating now we skating in Escalades” is a witty double entendre which means literally how you look at it, she use to roller skate to actually about how she went from skating in roller blades to Cadillac Escalades which is every millennial dream especially from every teenager watching rap city. From then and there was nothing about autobiographical lines and one that I related to the most was when she said on the track “Bubby” where she made it direct “ I been working on myself I haven’t mastered my patience”, (Dej Loaf, 2020). No actually that song is a lyrical story telling with melodic delivery to capture the listeners attention. How I know? It captured mine. She cleverly comes on the song with pure confidence and rides it like a Buick on a stoner cruise. Straight smoking smooth ride.

She tags teams with Detroit’s own Big Seam on “IDK” and 42 Dugg on “Tap In”. I felt that Dej keeps up with new talent as she threw Gunna along with people like Lil Uzi Vert on the track “ Simply” along will soulful voices like 6lack on “Up”. Rick Ross drops his blessing on “Open Hand” as the Boss names her the New Janet Jackson. She presents herself as a top tier lyricist and a female performer as she can rap and sing. My Favorite song on the CD is “Get Money” Feat. Benny The Butcher, Conway, & Detroit’s own and Griselda’s newest member, Boldy James. When Dej Loaf sings off like “ Rik Flair.. Beanie Siegal I feel it in the Air”, I felt Dej was singing her soul out on a ghetto tune that is a catchy song to sing. Benny The Butcher has quotes on their as he raps “ Your not a boss until you make your N!66@ one” where Benny does his best Dej Loaf ending adlib and he proves he is versatile.

Dej Loaf is the voice for the ghetto in Detroit

Where this stands out is that Dej Loaf has not done music in a while when it comes down to album releases but she makes up for it with Sell Sole II. I felt Dej Loaf single handle voice traveled from Detroit to The whole globe. Dej Loaf is Detroit’s best vocal when it comes to harmonizing and putting together sing a longs. Detroit has a colorful music scene and with that being said; Sell Sole II is a ghetto harmonious album that people must not overlook because Dej Loaf has skills in song writing, composing, & production. Like what Dej Loaf says on Get Money, “ Put Your Hands in the air”.
