Lil Migo- King Of The Trap II Review
Memphis rap has been a staple to the southern Hip-Hop fans ranging from many generations from 8Ball & MJG, Three 6 Mafia, Tela, along with underground sensations such as Killa Klan Klaze, Young Dolph, & Yo Gotti. Just like any other artist who emerges from a musical city, there is an underground artist willing to make a buzz.
Lil Migo been a household underground sensation since 2019. The first time I listened to him was his hit single, “No Love in my heart” released in 2019. The samples and beat selections showed how monumental trap rap was in Memphis. The track samples “How Can I Ease The Pain” by Lisa Fishar, a similar instrumental Three 6 Mafia used for their single, “Late Night Tip”.With the passing of Young Dolph along with artist who claimed to be King Of Memphis, the crown will be fought for many generations including the future of Memphis Rap.
On November 19, 2021 King Of The Trap II dropped and with these soul samples, Migo has managed to become a household name in Memphis. Today, we will go by track by track to see why each song was monumental and why Lil Migo could be a contender in the Memphis rap scene.
- Sergeant- The intro to the King Of The Trap II. Before this dropped, he always selected the best samples to express how he feels in the booth along with the sounds of Memphis to remind his fans that the trap fans there love them hi-hats and synthesizer’s.
- Dawg Ass- A street anthem that talks about loyalty along with trusting the woman that come in the game.
- Migo Shit Feat. Quavo- Migo Shit is a collaboration because Huncho and Migo making this a ratchet car banger.
- Dangerous Feat. Blac Youngsta- An endorsement from his mentor, Blac Youngsta reminding how these people can be dangerous.
- Yeezy Slides- An ode to Yeezy’s slides, an expensive shoe that is very popular.
- Roots Feat. Duke Deuce- A crunk anthem with Duke Deuce, the new king of energy.
- Rumors 3- a trilogy to Lil Migo’s anthem, Rumors about the haters making up assumptions of ones jealous envy.
- Stuck To My Seat Feat. Lil Jairmy- An anthem to those riding around strapped.
- Exotic- Living the dream smoking exotic, drinking exotic.
- We Ball Feat. Fresco Trey- A fun singalong ode to money and balling.
- F Da Rap Game Up Feat. Blac Youngsta & Maui Mac- A diss to those messing the rap game up bringing it back to the trap where the streets is your judge.
- No Mo Wock- Turning down lean is a good thing.
- Trapped Feat. OJ Da Juiceman- Young Migo brings back a trap legend, OJ rapping about being trapped.
- Slip Of Gold- A song about the come up escaping the trap. The best song of the CD in my opinion.
- Patience- The Sade Fear sample made this a sad ballad but the song is called patience and it is all about patience leaving the King Of Trap II with the illest intro you could possibly hear.
Overall
Lil Migo has made a buzz and with a co-sign from Heavy Camp, Migo could help elevate Memphis rap into this new generation. Memphis is one of my favorite musical cities to listen to artist and with me listening to Lil Migo since 2019, I knew he has talent.
I hope he leaves Heavy Camp to build his own brand because independence is where it is at and Lil Migo has gained a following to garnish more fans with his tales of Memphis over soulful samples,
